Rabbi Charlie will be offering Adult Education Classes on Sunday morning in August. While the classes are geared towards adults, they are open to students going into 8th grade and up.  For questions about any of the classes, email Rabbi Charlie at rabbi@congregationbethisrael.org. The cost of any class will not be barrier to learning.  Please talk to Rabbi Charlie if  you are unable to take the class due to its cost.

Beginning to Understand Hebrew
August 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Beginning with the Shema, we will learn the meaning of each word in our most well known prayers.  You've recited them for years, now you can know intimately what they mean.  In addition to getting to know our prayers better, you'll also gain Hebrew vocabulary and how the language works.  Basic Hebrew knowledge (ability to sound out a word) is required. Our Changing Judaism
August 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Judaism today is completely different than what is in the Tanakh (Jewish Bible).  And Reform Judaism today is completely different than Orthodoxy.  What has changed and why?  Each class will explore dramatic splits and changes that have taken place - all of which will help us to better understand our Judaism today.  We'll cover topics ranging from the Jewish/Christian divide to the rise of the Reform Movement.
