Join us for our special "spark" Shabbat with guest speaker CBI Member, Mary Twis.

We will also celebrate this month's Birthday & Anniversaries.

Dr. Mary Twis, Assistant Professor at TCU for the Department of Social work and member of CBI is our CBI Spark guest.   She will be talking about her work with the homeless and survivors of sex trafficking.  

Mary Twis, PhD, LMSW-AP is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at Texas Christian University. As part of her position, she coordinates student service-learning within varied social service sectors like child advocacy centers, community mental health facilities, anti-trafficking advocacy groups, community development non-profits, and shelters for people experiencing homelessness. Mary also conducts research and evaluation projects within the fields of human trafficking and homelessness. In order to support this work, she is a member of the Office of the Texas Governor's North Texas Academic Collaborative on Trafficking, the North Texas Gender-Based Violence Research Collaborative, the Council on Social Work Education, and the Society for Social Work and Research. Her most recent research projects include 1) a study of long-term advocacy programs for child sex trafficking survivors, which is sponsored by a grant from the Office of the Texas Governor, 2) a program evaluation of services offered to people experiencing homelessness, which is sponsored by a grant from The Bridge and the Dallas Foundation, and 3) a program evaluation and community engagement plan for homelessness services in Dallas, which is sponsored by the City of Dallas.
