In-Person Volunteer Responsibilities

Door Greeter

  1. Please arrive 30 minutes before the service begins.
  2. Stand outside the Front Door of the building and welcome people.
  3. Maintain 6 feet distancing of Member Families in the line.
  4. Before they enter the building, ask each person if they have or had symptoms of, or tested positive for Covid-19, or if they had contact with anyone who has been ill or tested positive with Covid-19, in the past 14 days. Ensure everyone has a mask, and provide one if necessary.
  5. Open the door and direct one Household at a time to the Registration Table in the lobby. 
  6. Hold next household outside until there is space at the registrar table.
  7. Once services begin and no one is in line, the door greeter will go to Rabbi’s office, lock main doors, and may join services at their assigned seat.

Registrar 

  1. Please arrive 30 minutes before the service begins and take a seat at the table in the lobby where the registration sheet should be located. 
  2. Welcome them and ask if they have registered online and check the registration sheet
    1. If they have not completed the online registration, have them fill out written information
    2. (If sign-up numbers are below capacity they may be seated immediately or if registration numbers are high they may need to wait to be seated).
  3. Instruct them to wait at the entrance of the synagogue for the Usher to come and seat them.
  4. Once services have begun, the registrar should sit on the chair at the entrance to the sanctuary to participate in services.  Will need to open the door for late coming attendees and bring them to the registration table one at a time.

Usher

  1. Please arrive 30 minutes before the service begins.
  2. Review the seating chart at the registration table.  Assure that blocked-off seats match what is marked on the chart. If it doesn’t match, re-arrange the marked seats to match the seating chart and assure that 4 seats separate each household.
  3. Wait at the entrance to the sanctuary until an Individual or Household is allowed to be seated.
  4. Take the Individual or Household into the Sanctuary once they’ve completed registration.  
  5. Seat the Individual or Household in a seat according to the number in the party.
  6. 10 minutes into the service, allow any available seats to those attendees in the waiting area (back classrooms)
  7. Make sure your seat is near the sanctuary doors in order to assist latecomers.
  8. After services, exit before other attendees, prop open exterior doors and communicate that all attendees should exit the building.
